Dishwasher Maintenance Guide

A well-maintained dishwasher cleans better and lasts longer. These simple maintenance tasks make a significant difference.

Clean the filter regularly, ideally weekly if you run the dishwasher daily. The filter traps food particles and should be rinsed under running water. For stubborn buildup, soak in warm soapy water.

Inspect and clean the spray arms monthly. Remove them and check that all spray holes are clear. Use a toothpick to clear any blockages.

Run a cleaning cycle monthly with dishwasher cleaner or a cup of white vinegar placed in the top rack. This removes grease and mineral deposits from internal components.

Wipe down the door seal and edges monthly. These areas don't get cleaned during the wash cycle and can accumulate residue and mold.

Check the drain area for debris. Food particles that pass the filter can accumulate around the drain. Remove any visible debris.

Keep the rinse aid dispenser filled. Rinse aid improves drying and helps water sheet off dishes and interior surfaces, preventing mineral buildup.

For Miele and other luxury dishwashers, follow the manufacturer's specific maintenance recommendations. These may include periodic descaling in hard water areas.
