Thermador built-in refrigeration, and where it goes wrong
Thermador columns are specified for flush, panelled installation, and that single design choice determines most of what a technician finds when one stops performing.

Flush installation is a ventilation decision
A column designed to sit dead level with the cabinet fronts has to take all of its air from a narrow path at the base and release it upward behind or above the cabinet. When the joinery was built to the specification, that works. When a soffit was later closed in, a plinth was fitted across the grille, or the run was tightened by a millimetre or two during installation, the same appliance is quietly running against a restriction for years.
The consequence is a longer compressor run for the same result, a condenser that stays hot, and components ageing faster than the calendar suggests. Anyone who diagnoses one of these without first putting a hand and a thermometer at the grille is skipping the most likely finding.

The freezer column is where the calls come from
On a paired installation the freezer side fails first and more often. The reason is straightforward: it runs a defrost cycle the refrigerator column barely needs, so it has a heater, a sensor and a drain path that the other cabinet has less use for, and each is a thing that can fail. Frost that spreads from the back wall forward, meltwater refreezing at the base, or a cabinet that has drifted up by a few degrees over a season all point the same way.
Second on the list is the evaporator fan, which produces the misleading combination of a very cold coil and a warm compartment. Third, and much less often than people assume, is the sealed system itself.
Thermador sits inside the same group as Bosch and Gaggenau, so diagnostic logic, service literature and a number of components carry across those brands. That is useful when a specific part is scarce.

Ice, water and the door
The ice maker on a Thermador freezer column depends on the same three things as any other: fill, freeze, harvest. Poor cubes are a fill problem far more often than a module problem, and filter age and inlet pressure are the first two measurements, not the last.
Door hardware deserves its own mention on these cabinets because the panels are heavy. A hinge that has taken a set leaves the door resting on its seal rather than compressing it, and the resulting slow leak of room air presents as a unit that runs constantly and still will not hold its set point.
